The long weekend was a whirlwind of fun-filled activities. But earlier in the week on 7/1, Camden had his 11 month pictures taken. Yes, it has already been 11 months! We tried to make his 11 month pictures casual -- he had his Purdue stuff on, and his 4th of July pictures were in a plain white T-shirt and jeans.

To start the long weekend, we planned to take Camden to the Zoo on Friday. The weather was great -- and we wanted to take advantage of the cooler temps in July. We got to the zoo only to find out that everyone else had the same idea! We were being directed to the IUPUI campus, which is directly north of the zoo, to park and take school buses to the entrance. Nana and Rick were also meeting us there. Once we saw the parking situation and the long lines just to ride the school buses we decided that there would probably be a better day for the zoo! Instead, we all went to the Old Spaghetti Factory for lunch where Camden had spaghetti for the first time.

On Friday night, the Mitchell cousins came over while Aunt Fer Fer and Uncle Chad went to dinner to celebrate their 10th Anniversary -- HAPPY ANNIVERSARY FER FER & CHAD! The kids enjoyed playing Mario Kart on Wii, and even Camden wanted to play. Afterward, we popped some popcorn and watched Toy Story 2.
On the 4th, the weather was unseasonably cool and rainy. We did not make any plans to watch fireworks since we didn't think Camden would even be up when they went off. However, Camden's afternoon nap was much later than normal because we were at the Eagan's in the afternoon for Taylor and Frank's birthday party. So when Camden woke up from his afternoon nap, we went to dinner and then to watch some fireworks. The fireworks did not even phase Camden. He did not mind the loud booms and enjoyed watching the ones in the air. Even with the chilly and wet weather, Camden enjoyed his first 4th of July celebration.

Camden got an early birthday present on Sunday. After we had a cookout at Nana's house, we picked it up -- a Golden Retriever puppy!! Rylee May came home with us on Sunday, and Camden just loves playing with her. They like to chase each other around the kitchen and in the backyard. He just giggles and laughs when they are playing. This is Camden's birthday present and we were excited to have her at home for the birthday party. She is 8 weeks old.
On the other hand, Tug is less than impressed with the new addition to the family. As he has done so many times in the past two years he will adjust, but initially he doesn't care for Rylee too much. When we introduced them, Tug growled at Rylee and then proceeded to "smack" her with his paws. It is getting better...they can at least come up to each other and sniff one another. But they're definitely not rolling around playing with each other -- much to the dismay of Rylee. She likes to play!!

Yesterday, Baa Baa Locke celebrated her birthday! We all want to wish Baa Baa a very Happy Birthday!! Also, cousin Emma will be celebrating her birthday this coming Saturday. Happy Birthday, Emma!!
