CAMBY - Hazel Maurine Edwards Ratts, daughter of Frank and Mary Ellen Wingler Edwards, passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 in Camby. She was born in Hall, Indiana in Morgan County on March 10, 1913 and attended Hall School.
She married Cyril Ratts on September 26, 1932. He passed away on October 31, 2000. They were blessed with one son, Robert E. Ratts, on September 1, 1933. He passed away on February 15, 2001.
Hazel enjoyed her family. She was a member of the Olive Christian Church and was also a member of the Olive Circle since 1957, when it was organized.
Hazel’s hobbies included sewing, piecing quilts, quilting, and reading.
She retired in 1976 from Old Hickory Furniture in Martinsville, where she was a seamstress.
Hazel is survived by two grandchildren, Bobby Ratts of Eminence and Kathy Browder of Camby; three great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Sherrill, Gurney, Damon, and Gilbert Keith; one sister, Coletta Edwards; and one great grandson, A.J. Ratts.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 18, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Costin Funeral Chapel in Martinsville with the service following at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be at Olive Christian Church Cemetery in Paragon.
