Come Hail or High Water...Its Vacation Time!!

There is quite a bit to catch up on since the last post. We'll start from the day after our last post. On Tuesday 6/2, Daddy and Camden went to the hospital to eat dinner with Mommy while she was working. Just a mile from the hospital we were dead stopped on the interstate due to a storm coming in. Mind you, it was not even raining when we left the house 5 minutes earlier. This was a pretty bad storm and it began hailing. It started off small, but then grew and grew to be very big hail stones. Camden didn't really know what was going on -- he just knew it was getting louder and louder from all the hail hitting the mini-van. Once the large stones started falling, Camden got a little upset and started crying. So Daddy had to maneuver his way through stopped traffic -- cutting in and out of other "parked" cars so they could get to the hospital where Mommy was waiting nervously. After rolling through ponds of water and taking a couple of detours due to extremely high water (in a very short period of time), we finally made it to the hospital parking garage! It was definitely the worst hail we've ever been in!! The mini-van sustained many dings and dents from the hail -- Good thing it is a leased vehicle!!

Then, it was time for vacation!!! Camden, scarred from the hail storm, had to endure a 14 hour road trip to Outer Banks, NC. The trip down was split up into 3 days. We left Thursday evening on 6/4. We drove to Charleston, WV and bunkered down. The following day we drove from Charleston to Williamsburg, VA. And then on Saturday we drove the rest of the way into Outer Banks. Camden far exceeded all of our expectations for the road trip. He did great riding in the van and sleeping in his pack-n-play at the hotels. He definitely enjoyed his DVD player. It was classic when we first turned it on -- he saw his Yo Gabba Gabba friends and he went crazy! Clapping! Yelling! Waving his arms! He enjoyed being able to watch his show while in the car. His cousins, Chase and Emma took turns riding with us to also help "entertain" him. They did a great job! Thanks Chase and Emma!!!

Vacation was great. Camden got to see the ocean and the beach for the first time. He enjoyed riding around in his backpack for walks on the beach, but was very hesitant to actually put his feet in the sand and water. He did enjoy watching the waves come crashing in and seeing all of the people at the beach. Most of his swim time was in the pool at the beach house. He finally got to ride in his car float for the first time...and loved it. He just cruised around the pool kicking his legs in the water. Camden also enjoyed seeing dolphins swim along the shore near our beach house. They came in large groups and played in the ocean. He also got to watch everyone on Waverunners and Go-Karts. He is definitely a people-watcher!

Yes, that is a dolphin catching a wave!

Once again, Camden exceeded all of our expectations while on vacation. He took great naps and slept well almost every night. He consistently took at least 2 hours morning naps, and a little over an hour each afternoon. He was a very happy boy all week, even while teething! A new tooth finally broke through on 6/7, which makes a total of 3. And there is the 4th coming very soon.

During Camden's 9-month wellness check-up, the doctor recommended allergy testing because of the rashes Camden was getting. Yesterday was our appointment for the allergy testing. After our consultation, the doctor went ahead with the testing just to confirm. He tested for the 10 major things -- milk, eggs, wheat, oats, fish, soybeans, peanuts, dust mites, cats, and dogs. The little sticks that you get pricked with didn't bother Camden. What he did not like was being held down during the process. We got about half way through the process when Camden started to get a little verbal about being held down. He was fine once we were able to lift him back up. The good thing with this type of allergy testing is that we get to find out the results right away. We did have to wait 15 minutes to see if there were any reactions...and fortunately, there were no reactions. So we were given the clear to continue introducing more foods. Overall, it was a good process to go through just to ensure he has no allergies.

With Father's Day approaching this week, Camden wanted to wish Pa Bailey and PaPa Locke a very Happy Father's Day. He is planning on spending a great day with his Daddy (and Mommy too!). Have a great week!!
