Camden's First Week

Camden's first week was filled with visitors at home, doctor's office visits, (many, many) diaper changes, feedings, and his first bath at home. Daddy is getting better with the diaper changes, while mommy was already a pro!

Camden enjoyed his bath, for the most part. He didn't necessarily like the wet wash cloth all over his body, but he definitely enjoyed the warm water on his head. After his bath we could definitely tell his hair was getting much lighter...and it was sticking straight up!!

This week we also had to endure 2 trips to the doctor and 1 trip back to the Family Rooms at Community North. During his first doctor's visit on 8/5, his bilirubin was a little high at 15.6. So Camden had to go on a biliblanket. We followed up that doctor's visit with another one on 8/6. They checked his bilirubin again and it went down to 14.9. We needed to keep him on the biliblanket. Camden didn't seem to mind the biliblanket, but mommy & daddy did not like it -- he had to be confined to a specific area because of the length of the blanket cord. On Friday 8/8, we went to the family rooms at the hospital to have his bilirubin checked again. We went to the hospital as it was closer than the doctor's office. This time, his bilirubin went up -- slightly to 15.2. So, we're stuck on the biliblanket until we go back on Monday.

The end of Camden's first week we finally hit a milestone! Just last night, he had 2 three-hour stretches of sleep!!!! Throughout the week it was a couple hours max...and then he needed to eat. Mommy really appreciated the longer spans of sleep last night. It was much needed.

Speaking of eating, Camden eats extremely well. It seems he just can not get enough (he must take after his dad). The only time Camden fusses is when his diapers are getting changed and when he is hungry. But, he definitely lets us know. His cries are in no way shape or form...subtle.

Thats about it for the first week...stay tuned for more updates.
